This is one of a number of subcategories in the Sussex Harvard Information Bank (SHIB). PLEASE NOTE: the cataloguing system is under development and does not yet contain all relevant references from the holdings in the collections.

The GC files provide contextual material to help understand CBW policies; for example, by providing illustrations of other aspects of security policies such as acquisition of other weapons systems. They were compiled on an ad hoc basis when some aspect of a country was considered relevant. They were also used as a storage point for files generated by other projects when those projects finished. As these collections were put together by researchers focused on chemical and biological warfare issues, these background/context files are not likely to be comprehensive but are there to provide context to understanding development and implementation of policies that relate to chemical and biological warfare and its prevention. Without understanding the general, it is not possible to understand the specific.
