Writings by Julian Perry Robinson for the Pugwash Conferences and its study/working groups

This bibliography selection follows Julian’s own record system in which he kept original copies of his writing projects under the letter ‘O’, hence it becoming known as the ‘O list’ and the numbers he gave for his works are retained in this bibliography. This extract focuses on his contributions to the Pugwash Conferences. Pugwash activities included a succession of study groups and working groups on CBW issues within which Julian was an active member. To make this list a little more navigable, Headings for each year have been introduced. However, during busy working periods, Julian sometimes retrospectively gave something an O-list number and so some items have been moved out of the O-list sequence to make the chronological sequence more easily understandable. All items still retain their original O-list number.

Many papers were originally submitted to Pugwash meetings under the Chatham House Rule about non-attribution but have been published here owing to the passage of time; thus current researchers are explicitly given permission to quote/cite them. The same applies to notes published here that Julian had originally marked as being in confidence or for limited distribution.

Where possible, copies of papers have been scanned from Julian’s files. There are some papers for which only some versions have been found or for which the quality of reproduction makes scanning somewhat pointless (this is especially true of some papers produced through early printers or photocopiers or copies kept using carbon papers). Anyone aware of a scannable copy of any document missing from this list is encouraged to get in touch in order to make this set more complete. Questions to be resolved about some papers are marked ‘QQQ’ in the text.
